MAM Chairman Thomas P. Antony was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Sahithya wing of FOKANA (Federation of Kerala Associations of North America. In making the announcement FOKANA President Mr. Paul Karukapilli and General Secretary Mr. Shahi Prabhakaran said that Mr. Antony is the most qualified person to assume the post due to his Association’s (MAM) long standing commitment to promote Malayala Sahithyam. They announced that FOKANA-for the first time-will conduct a “GLOBAL LITERARY COMPETITION”. They pointed out Mr. Antony’s years of experience in conducting GLOBAL LITERARY AWARDS. They stated that even FOKANA-A NATIONAL FEDERATION-has been unable to conduct such GLOBAL LEVEL Competitions. They further noted the courage Mr. Antony & MAM showed in conducting the 2009 GLOBAL AWARD SHOW in Kochi for the presentation of awards to Winners from Europe, Kerala and other countries who were unable to come in person to receive the AWARDS at the AWARD MELA held in Washington City in November 2009.

Mr. Antony, immediately after his appointment, chose 3 eminent writers as Co-Chairmen of the FOKANA Sahithya Wing, They are:

1) Tom Mathews of New Jersey-Winner of several literary awards including 2009 global sahithya award for Novel.

2) Abdul Punayurkkulam of Michigan-An eminent writer holding several positions in various Federation Level writers’ Forums and recipient of several Literary AWARS including FOKANA, World Malayalee Council. He was also 2009 MAM GLOBAL AWARD PANEL Chairman.

3) Dr. Nandakumar Chanayil of New York-A recipient of several Literary AWARDS. He was also 2009 MAM GLOBAL AWARD PANEL Member.
